Hurricane Isabel, now no more than a memory to some, but to others...

In Isabel’s Wake… Downed & uprooted trees Power lines tangled like strands of Christmas lights, Electricity a memory for millions… Man's machines scattered like toys. Homes built too close to Mother Ocean... lost forever! Steps that once led to a porch, lead nowhere… Man's world in a frazzle… Mother Nature sits back taking stock, another battle won, Man's world in shambles…

Ed--wonderful similes--and the picture itself was worth a thousand words. We should all listen when Mother Nature speaks.

Good write on the current event. The lone object in the picture added to the sadness of the poem. Good choice.

Oh my god, Ed, that picture... I love it! Shade of Planet of the Apes... Your accompaning piece, succinct. Population's brains versus Mother Nature's Brawn. There is no contest, sad, but so many times seen. What a bitter waste of human dreams...

This poem reminded me of an old, "Don't mess with Mother Nature" commercial that I liked. Yes, she gets upset often, especially when man gets in her way! Good write.
