Drawn to the Ocean...

I miss my "mother", yes, my Mother Ocean...

Drawn to the Ocean…

Since I was a child,

And able to walk,

Quite, I am told,

Before I could even talk,

I was drawn to the ocean…

The waves would knock me down,

But not even could be found,

Any kind of a frown,

On my young brow.

The only time I recall being upset,

Was when mom or dad,

Quite literally had to drag me,

Off the beach & away from “my” ocean.

I got to admit,

That even now,

I still cry when having to leave,

My favorite place in the world,

My ocean, my beach,

Taken from my reach.

I live but thirty miles away now,

But without the smell of salt,

Permeating my lungs,

I find myself so down,

For without my “fix”,

For the ocean and the environs it surrounds,

I cannot live with myself without,

The myriad of sounds,

On “my” oceanfront & ground.

As even here on the edge,

Of the woods and farmland,

I know where my heart & soul want to be,

On that of “my” personal beach,

Inhaling the soothing air,

And allowing the ocean winds,

To flow through my hair…

You have expressed your love for the water expertly. I like being close to water too. I suspect this is one of the reasons I am still in Ontario.

I know that feeling you have. I also love the ocean, I find myself to be at peace when at the ocean. I enjoyed the memories, thank you.

When I was in Hong Kong, our family went to the beach every single weekend. I really missed that after I've come to Canada.

A great write and very thought-provoking indeed!
