Could that be a Springtime Bird Call?

Spring is springing forth, but still winter lurks in the cold dark corners,
watch out for it...it will sneak up on you and...

“Could that be a Springtime Bird Call?”

I wish you all could hear this,

It is so beautiful, sounds like a bird of spring,

The weather it is getting just a bit warmer,

I don’t want to jinx it, but what the hell,

I love it, the birds singing their song of spring…

Oh damn, he must have heard me,

Writing about his song, oh dear me,

He moved onto another tree,

Leaving Rufuz and me, looking to see,

Where he did move too…

But there are others making their presence known,

I did see or rather hear a woodpecker yesterday,

Tried to decipher where he was at, but so many trees,

Here where we live amongst them, so tall…

Spring is soon to arrive in full regalia,

The birds they will sing,

Probably waking me with their song,

Making me unhappy as I would awake,

Making me think of the winter, oh how I will long,

But cannot make us happy, I am afraid,

As we are always wishing and wanting,

Another time, another place, another rhyme…

I wondered if it was my imagination.......but I think I saw a robin a few days ago. In Ontario that means spring is coming. But its still the middle of Februrary and birds sometimes get mixed up when the weather warms up. Thanks for the sharing of your sighting :-)

Ed...we are bird lovers...I have so many feeders out back..
woodpeckers wake us every morning....the humingbirds are
gorgeous...I love them...my neighbor says they are dirty
and crap all over her stuff....well....like humans are so
clean...the ending of your poem is sad....hope you are ok..
spring is just around the corner.. as are wishes and dreams
....bless you...floria
