Lightening…
Never did I see it coming,
Scared the living shit out of me,
One giant bolt, right in front of me, it seemed…
Predictions for a chance of thunder-boomers,
But not till after midnight,
This happened just before nine,
God, it almost made me blind…
Such power and intensity,
It did represent, I wish I had a camera,
To record its very presence,
Then, no more than another minute,
And another bolt, this time larger,
More strands of power,
Reaching down to strafe the ground,
And scare little old me, out of a few pounds,
But I could use that kinda scare, more often,
As my body it seems, it is getting so much more round…
No thunder accompanied these fearful streaks,
Not even rain did come down with their shrieks,
Only noise heard was the scream of all us freaks,
Scared that the wrath of god was headed towards our creek…
Rufuz does not like Thunder, but I love it & am usually found,
On the open beach, waiting for the streaks to touch the ocean,
To leave a tingling sensation on my feet, what a great treat,
To discover the power of Nature, by the ocean, so neat,
Not to be found in the streets…

WOW--must have been the same system that caused the severe weather here on thursday--we had high winds (80 miles an hour), heavy rain, hail, and the lightning! on the local t.v. weather radar, they were saying that the lightning was flashing at over 1,000 bolts an HOUR.
wonderful write, GORGEOUS picture--and tinka's right, stay off the water when it's lightning. we want you to stick around for a long, long time!
(((HUGS))) and stay safe, dear (((friend))),
karla.
is rufuz *wOOF* stormphobic, like me? i also had a stormphobic dog once, he'd GLUE himself to my leg and wouldn't leave my side :)
But remember lightning and water does not mix well.....it kills!!
Take care in stormy weather okay!!
