The snowfall in my dreams

Living in a tropical country I have never come across snowfall except in films and pictures. So I let my imagination flow. I do understand the trials of those living in minus degree climates for over long periods.

Poem Artwork

Snowfall on pine trees in Kashmir,India in December

 Silently the snowfall hastens

Swirls the snowflakes, when the great show is on

Layer by layer it hauls down cascading

The seasonal game now in full swing forge

Crowning molecules laden over on surface big and small

Spotlessly white, naturally bright

In the shadow of the dark night

  A shining spectacular sight

 The dreamy moonlight outstretched

Like little plumes of feathers, snowfall aimlessly flying

Cotton balls striking in hail storm

Like white pollen from flower falling unfurled

Shining white surface on land, milky white lakes

Wild is the wind while lingering in line

Freezing cold icicles lace  in delight

Spreads  long distances across  harsh seas

Mountains of it  floating in the wetness

Glaciers in dark, translucent glass sparkle

The eyes inhale the calmness of the colour white

Covering secrets within  its anointed eyelids

  Indeed nature’s many treasures

To share with mankind in all measure

O for the joy and pleasure

For having the sky blue and the snow, a shining white

And the tall pine tree leaves peaking through it all

Is this a heaven that formed on earth

 Enchanting   with its miraculous gifts

Somewhere deep within my heart

 It makes my chambers warm

For the feel of  a heaven where we finally rest is here.

you learned well from pics and films ...

when living in a city, snow is inspiring and beautiful the first couple of day but then it swiftly becomes a pain in the ass ...

For never having experienced snowfall, your poem is spot on. I have experienced all those things in my first 20 years of life, including walking many blocks to school in 50 below zero Fahrenheit. I also skated outdoors for hours, skied, and waded in snow up to my waist. Long periods of snow and ice can get you down, but the first snowfall is always a delight until a blizzard sets in and freezes your ***off.

They say we are going to get snow and ice tonight here in Houston for the first time in three years. Maybe, with global warming, you will be seeing snow where you are in India.

For never being in snow you got it perfectly. I love the 'cotton balls striking in hail storm.' Someday maybe you'll get the chance to stand in snow and watch it fall.

You have given us a fantastic view of snow, which to make it even more enjoyable is the fact that you have never experienced it first hand. Wonderful imagery.

This is a stunning description of winter and winter's wonder--a new fallen snow. But as magical as your description, you've got to get your face rubbed in that white stuff and pummeled with a couple of dozen hard-packed snowballs in order to fully appreciate the fun and bitterness of it all. Well done, my friend.

Snowfall is truly very wondrous to behold,
But this year, we also have the bitter cold.
