A scene I happened to notice in the morning, an almond tree in the neighborhood, all its leaves are pink and red in color. It is the only tree standing out among others,it looked very bright.Icompare it to a young bride in this season of spring.

Poem Artwork

Spring is on and the  foliage on this tree

Showered over with  pink  red leaves

 Seems like many almond eyes

‘Gorgeous as an Indian bride

Dressed in vivid colours,

A superb display in glamour

The anointing charm of this beautiful wild almond tree

Among other trees exuding its oily fragrance

Waiting for the most auspicious time

When  Light, the knight in bright armour alights

To hold the lovely fluttering leaves

Loud , noisy, cheerful and happy

Bright and warm in gay abandon

Handsome  rays  piercing like fire

To see her glow with desire

The dew drops bathe her soft folds quietly

The wind waves where wetness holds

 Nature  watches  with a smile

The freshness of  spring  newly worn

Tidings of celebrations  soon  go on

The glory of a marriage in nature

Bring romance in the air to nurture

Blushing nut tree blissfully bows willingly

Sunrays dance and winds whistle loudly

To welcome yet another  new bride proudly

The comparison is beautifully true. The young woman in the springtime of her life blossoming forth in a radiant sari is like the birth of new leaves and blossoms in the spring. A wonderful picture beautifully portrayed in the poem.

I appreciate the symbolism that you have shared via your verses. There is much evoked that awakens senses and emotions. Thank you. Love and peace,

Thanks for the review Robert and for the details you have mentioned. I understand this tree in my picture is a kind of almond tree which is exclusively planted all over Mumbai and is known as badam tree. The scenery in this picture is just by the roadside. It is near a temple in Marve village which is a very old settlement and the settlers are known as East Indians in Marve,Malad Mumbai. J roseline

I never knwew that red was considered a wedding color in India. Right now spring sounds great for me. Being in the depths of winter here in the great midwest of the states, any hint of spring is welcome. An unusually cold and snowy winter we're having. Your words bring spring a little closer in the minds eye. I have been looking at the photograph you're displaying with this and that tree looks just like what we call a red bud tree. I have one in my yard and admire the pink going to red of the early spring that the tree displays. I dug mine up as a wild sappling several years ago. I never realized that there were more of the same type in India. If you walk around near the tree, if it is truly the same, then there are probably small sapplings beginning to bloom from the tree. If it is the same tree then you dig about a foot around and a foot down. The root system spreads out quite a ways from it. Never plant it around potentially taller trees so that it can get plenty of sunlight. It's truly a great tree. Thank you again for this picture of spring J. Bob

Must have been written some time ago when spring was in the air. It is in the air here in the swamp today too. The sun is shining brightly and it is seventy-one degrees. I enjoyed the poem and your idea of writing of the tree as though it was a woman.
