MARRIAGE

Some say marriage makes a man better.

Some say marriage leaves a man diminished.

I say a man’s not complete till he’s married,

And then he’s finished.

Happily never after,

I’ve taken my vows of acceptance.

Marriage isn’t a word,

Marriage is a sentence.

A union of disproportion,

Where two become one,

And when a man says, “I do”,

It’s over and done.

An institution of inequity,

A tightening of the screw.

My wife says what’s hers is hers,

And what’s mine is hers too.

Marriage is the art of give and take,

Compromise at its best.

I give everything I’ve got to give,

And my wife takes the rest.
