LEARNING THE ROPES

I can tie it up.

I can tie it down.

I can do a wrap,

And not make a sound.

I can be knotty,

But I’m no square.

When I wear a bowtie,

I’m quite debonair.

Always ready to jump right in,

I’m braided for strength.

You choose the circumference,

And I’ll supply the length.

I can be pulled,

But I can’t be pushed.

If I’m worked too hard,

I get frayed and bushed.

I may be twisted,

But that’s how I bend.

And I’ll be right there with you,

When you reach the end.

I’ve lassoed around all day.

I’ve climbed slippery slopes.

So hang with me,

And I’ll show you the ropes.
