An olde friend, in age and years known,
appears lonely and disinterested in
selecting a turkey dressed to become a
thankful meal's center of interest.
I stand beside her for a moment before asking
if I could help. She hugs me declaring
Thanksgiving, a drag; a plot to begin Holiday
buying early. She tells me that her meal
will be taken to a helping place for the homeless,
and she would go to a nice restaurant. Not on your
life, says I, pushing my cell phone button for
the one in charge, I ask if we can squeeze in
one more; an olde and hungry friend who
hugs me in nodding acceptance.
Well done, of course our Thanksgiving in Canada is held a lot earlier than yours so it is almost an end of summer holiday not being so close to Christmas has it's blessings.
