Here’s to the Bugs
You must know that most everyone loves a little humor,
But the joke we have for a government surely ain’t no rumor,
$65K to figure out what bugs do near a light bulb, our government’s back to work,
How many of our representatives will look into a mirror and see a worthless jerk,
Are we missing something, like a little insect romance; man I’m bad,
Then again, could it be an illustration, for a new Viagra, ad,
It’s really hard to believe that anybody with any degree of a feeble mind,
Would ever want to spend tax payer dollars on a study of this kind,
But there it was , the type of study , for which our famous government is inept,
Any breathing housewife could easily enlighten their so-called honorable ,Rep.,
They’re attracted to the porch light where they can see, and in the dark, they cain’t,
Believe it or not, but most humans, have the very same, visual restraint,
As an interested party that would wish to get this right,
How many bureaucrats did it take to screw in that bulb of light,
But some honorable reps in Washington with amazing taste and vision ,
Are unencumbered by the dark , that’s for making a decision,
They’re attracted to the bright lights, the big ones flashing from a far,
The winking and the blinking near the White House. It’s called the Eden Bar.
“Do pet tarantulas bite? That ought to be a big one don’t you think?
Right On Congressman . I’ve always wondered , pour me another drink .”
I've heard there are bugs in the election process. I got it from the guy attracted to the glitter more than anyone else I've ever known. Even gilds his place of residence like it's a glorified bathroom. Bugs like bathrooms because they are stinky and sometimes a little wet and slimy.
So if he says there are bugs in the electric process, he's got to be right, right?

I agree with T. Methinks you hit the bottle too much and slaughtered this great idea with lines that don't like reach out and grab you like you did before.
Are you losing (loosening?) your touch, Tom, or merely lowering your standards for those who haunt the Eden Bar this holiday season??? I hope not. It's all too ornate and inordinately complex to unravel, just as the rhymes and the long-breathed lines appear belaboured and blunt. Looks like Spiderman himself lassoed, enmeshed and bit you ! Now that the New Incumbent of the White House is "preparing" to install - after the previous tradition - his son in the West Wing, maybe 1000 x (Rouble/Yuan) $65K "to spend tax payer dollars on a study of this kind" will become the fashion - don't you think? Looking forward to you raising the bar in your future posts. Every good wish for Merry Xmas and a resounding New Year for the Poet and the Most Honourable Wife who has to put up with the worsening verses !!!
