Government Contract
Now you know, government workers , I can understand,
But these two guys workin ,didn’t seem to fit that clan,
They had the proper tools and didn’t stop to break,
Some supervisor, I am thinkin, is surely making a mistake,
Something big was missing in the orders that he’d given,
Then maybe they were Union and repetition driven,
Here, the one man dug a hole about two feet around,
The other quickly filled it up and tamped it down,
Maybe they were diggin down to locate hidden money,
Man I couldn’t figure, something sure was funny,
Just when it was lookin like they might be done,
They quickly moved on over and dug another one,
I couldn’t take it any longer, I just had to ask,
What is the nature of and purpose for this Task,
Why would you dig a two foot hole then you just fill it,
Could you maybe tell me , whatta you expect to git ,
He said, I know it’s lookin funny but you gotta understand,
When you do a government job, you gotta please the man,
That’s what we get paid for, we keep our quota up this way,
But the man that plants the trees in ,Called in sick today!

What leads the narrative to its rightful conclusion is the apparent meaninglessness of digging and filling the holes. That's your genius again in evidence. Keep it up!
If I were you, I'd wait for the Diamond Jubilee to come round, and as you said, there'd be "in-laws, outlaws and jailbirds", I guess, come to gobble down the "goodies" at your expense and try and rope an "outlaw" to send your poems out to some traditional publisher. Some Jesse James with brothers would be a good choice. As for "in-laws", they are "jailbirds" anyway!
Every good wish.
