Bright Lights Gone
I said girlie take it easy, too much to drink I’ll bet,
Said yeah, I’ve been falling down ,but I ain’t been drinkin yet,
Ain’t you one of them dancing can cans from the stage,
Looked like a heavy workout for a girl your age,
No need of me pretending, I’m gittin a little bit over the hill,
But a girl my age still has to pay the living bills,
Twenty eight is really great, as long as you can take it,
But anymore the buzz is gone and I just have to fake it,
I’m not cut out for sellin pleasure, if you get what I mean,
Too much competition on the streets of New Orleans,
I tried that brass pole dancin. Didn’t work out too good,
Also tried the nudie strippin. Didn’t go over like I thought it would,
My feathered dress was not the best. Guess I weren’t too handy,
And with such poor fringe benefits, I guess I’m no eye candy,
I once tried singing at the club but all I heard were shouts,
At first I thought applause, but everyone walked out,
I bombed out dancing on the stage, you saw me stumbling around,
A couple more bummer shows like that and they’ll be taking me down,
My bright light dreams are over and I’m ending my stage girl life,
Mister you seem like an all right guy, would you be needin a wife?
RSVP maybe?

All lovely things will fade and die,
And youth that's now so bravely spending,
Will beg a penny, by and by."
