Another Golden Year Failure
These golden years are really tough, when your health is not the greatest,
Talk always covers ailments, with questions what’s your latest?
I guess slowing down your life to maybe just a crawl,
No way! Your knees won’t take it and you cain’t get up at all,
You should carry accident alert , when you cain’t get to the door,
But I’m not sure about standing up, when it feels so good down on the floor,
I’ve got an emergency daughter, didn’t mean to give you a fright,
No! don’t call 911, I don’t need’em here tonight,
Don’t worry dear, you’ve got a key, so just come on in,
I was watching TV , I’m here in the den,
No, I cain’t move, cause something always breaks ,
I’m worried about that funny sound it makes,
It’s just my position, I didn’t mean to scare you,
I should have had that check up, it’s long overdue,
You cain’t believe what happened, I twisted wrong and Pow!
This damn electric recliner, it’s got me stuck some how.

The last laugh is the best one. May our ailments grow less onerous as time marches on.

PS. I called 911 twice when I got stuck with my heavy 500 pound wheelchair on my ramp coming out of my van and then, when my pool Hoyer lift rusted off at the bottom and I fell against the shower wall with my caregiver unable to pull me back up. The Calvary came and fixed both situations quickly.
nice poetry as usual Tom, I really enjoyed it. thanks,
Steve
I find this post rather flat, though the line about staying plop on the floor quite telling. All in all, I find this piece a mere statement - none of your usual bite-and-sting in it. Are you about to join te club of the "staters of the obvious" ???
