"Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind "

 Isley Brothers

.................................................................................................................

I am in a calm and reflective mood this wonderful summer morning

stretched out in comfortable and relaxed mode under the warm sunshine

sipping my refreshing fruit cocktail sheltered beneath a colorful sunshade

watching the energetic and chirpy birds, scrambling on the bird table

mourning doves, chaffinch, blue tits, hedge sparrows and wrens

performing their daily rituals of balance, poise and precision on the feeders

with the sweet and succulent aroma of jasmine pervading our back garden

I feel good within myself, realising all is well, and all options remain open

it's pleasing to know, that you can enjoy the fruits of your labours

as the grass sprinklers come alive again in spectacular show

fine mist and spray, cooling and refreshing my fevered brow

atoms of fine water turning into miraculous prisms of technicolor

as the strains of Minnie Riperton's " Loving You ," filter through in the sleepy background

I wriggle my toes with contented ease and pleasure

as a cabbage white butterfly flickers across my vision

signifying the mesmerising dance of life is both brief and intense

and you have got to catch your dreams before they all slip away

I take deep and steady breaths of sanguine content

formulating all my designated plans in my serene and tranquil mind

and as I gaze around this wondrous paradise of mine

I understand that everything that has been given

is only transitory, and was not mine from the very start

and forever I will keep humility, to anchor my sacred soul

I love this one....it is very peaceful. You are truly talented at writing poetry, and just writing in general! You are a true poet, unlike myself...I write novels intentionally, but the poetry comes from transmissions from outer space or something.

It does sound like a wondrous paradise, Peter - and a wonderful place to kick back, and ponder life, and write.

Much better than the dark depressing ogre's cave I've been forced to hide in lately - that evil queen is everywhere!

I'd love to be a child again and run through the sprinklers in your garden...laughing and feeling alive...even if my life changed tomorrow, I would have this memory today and recognize it's significance. The mention of the song was a sensory delight...
Bask a little longer in the sunshine, peter.
Love, Taylor ~

everything about this is wise and beautiful. the most meaningful part to me, on this day, at this moment , is 'and you have got to catch your dreams before they all slip away'. And so I shall.

Calm and reflective is good - mind Fed-Exing some of that over to So-Cal? Life here is a crowded merry-go-round with squeaking bearings. Of course you would know that, having lived in LA!

Minnie Riperton - I haven't heard that song for twenty years. Do you know that woman had a four octave range? Incredible!

Love those moments you describe here, peace is a precious gift, especially peace of mind and spirit.

Oooooh Peter!

...the mesmerising dance of life is both brief and intense
and you have got to catch your dreams before they all slip away...

I think you were in the perfect place today for savouring the ones you have and you certainly created the idyllic picture for others to create a few of their own. Fabulous write!

This is exactly how I feel everyday when I go out and sit on my bench and watch the birds at the feeder and butterflys drifting about. It so renews the spirit to enjoy the beautiful fruits of labor that God's blessing has allowed me to produce. This was beautiful, Peter, thank you for sharing.

Peter,
One can only inhale...the beauty and serenity of your poetry...and exhale, recognizing Life is so good....when the truth of our souls is anchored in the understanding...that every good and perfect gift, comes down from The Father of Lights!

Enjoy your truth and sun and freedom, Brother!
