Why I Love Fall or Why I Fall in Love

I looked out of my window to see what I could see

I saw the God’s of nature staring in at me

The trees all wore such brilliant rainbow gowns

As the birds singing, flew South across the sea

Haughty squirrel looked up from gathering winter’s food

I see the neighbor’s old Tom cat keeps a weary eye

Above an umbrella sky of azure blue has just a puff of white

Breezes blow a beach ball left like a little summer’s sigh

The bright orange splash of future Jack O Lanterns

Wink between the leafs gripping garden twine

A few string beans keep a rotten tomato company

As they both refuse to leave their mother vine

I see young lover’s strolling hand in hand along

That path that leads down through the trees

Now and then to pause to share a passionate kiss

Running, laughing children stop and tease

I hear the rumble of someone’s lawn-mower starting

Anal retentive lawn care guy down the street

Smile at the burning bush I planted out in the front yard

Like an on guard sentinel strangers it will greet

I pull my sweater on and grab my Jimmie Johnson hat

Time to get out and embrace the world around me

instead of just being a voyeur behind this window glass

The real beauty of it all is that this show is free…
