This time of year poets flourish.

Poem Artwork

Bridal Veil Blooming that I planted 40 years ago.

Touch of Spring

How gently you come upon the scene,

struggling to give birth, from branch or earth,

for all your worth, sunshine and shadow,

freezing cold wind and heavy rain.

Killing cold is not yet old,

can come at any time.

You bask in the new sun,

till your brief flowering is done.

As you bring forth beauty to the world,

and sweet fragrance to attract the bees.

To pollinate your brief appearance,

with diligence and breathless ease.

Your beauty and your fragrance,

attracts us to your side.

We may cut a few of your kin,

to adorn our houses inside.

Whether naturally wild,

or cultivated in the yard,

a touch of spring you bring,

is so stimulating for the bard.

A lovely ode to a beautiful flowering plant. I have always loved trees and shrubs and such and I have been fortunate to have planted hundreds along the journey in this life on this planet. Thank you for sharing, Ron. All the best to you,

You make me long for that time when flowers bloom Ron. It is winter here in Ontario but I long for that scented time of year when the flowers fill up my back yard and front lawn, Thank you for sharing this delightful poem.

Your poem offers so much beauty throughout. I especially like the first line. And the entire piece speaks of your love of spring. The reader is drawn into the poem, making them feel the excitement of spring gently coming upon the scene.

Beautiful!! love the spirit and the hope this poem engenders. A love for life that may be stalled by frozen winter yet rises anew in its turn. I, for one, am sure looking forward to spring 2023!

I love the first stanza. You achieve rhyme without rhyming. I believe you are beginning to understand. As for the rest; I"m feeling your spring. "is so stimulating for the bard" Beautiful poem at a time we all are waiting "as you bring forth beauty to the world".

You've taken an aray of familiar words and placed them in inordinate places, making the reader feel rejuvenated and inspired. This, to me, is a personification of much of Nature's enigmatic magic. Natural growth, relying exclusively on the simplest of nutrients, sun, rain, even cooling, is what we pay far too little attention to. So much calm could be realized if more would allow themselves to think and create as you do. Bravo, my friend.

Your affection for both the bush and the season is in full view with this poem. Warmly and lovingly penned, it reminds me of how I feel as I wait impatiently for the first daffodils to show themselves.

A touch of spring, indeed, and a lovely touch it is. What a fine spring poem to awaken the desire for the coming spring. Love the picture.
