Writer's Cramp

Poem Artwork

I've come up with writer's block
tho I thought I was very bright.
When I tried to pen a line
I simply cannot write.


I rack my brain for something
a verse, an ode, a rhyme
but my page stays empty
it's a literary crime.


At times my words all spill out
and flow like flaxen honey
but they are stuck inside my head
and it isn't very funny.


The dictionary holds no clues
for me to fill this paper.
Ideas form, then go away
adrift on mindless vapor.


I frantically searched some more
with synomic Peter Roget
but came away more confused
Peter had nothing to say.


I thought my rhymey dictionary
could light a meager spark.
I fight to write; where's the light
I'm lost in the creative dark.


So, I think that I will stop for now
and turn out my overhead lamp.
I am literally all dried up
and I'm getting writer's cramp.
