People smile and say, 'What a dope',
When they see me out pullin' my rope.

But off we go with me in the lead,
Wandering away like a tumble weed.

Uptown and down, country side too,
Over to the animal petting zoo.

Up hill and down, I'd pull my friend,
We sit down to rest, then start agin'.

Into the candy store we'd stop,
For bubblegum and Root Beer Pop.

Went to the park and slid the slide,
And on to the roller coaster ride.

Past the circus, just in town,
Stopped and watched a funny clown.

All day long, we had great fun,
But it got late and we had to run.

Home before six, I was told,
So my dinner wouldn't get cold.

Put away my rope, nice and neat,
Washed my hands so I could eat.

Mom asked 'Where were you all day'?
Said, 'My rope and I went out to play'.

She said, 'Son, I've really given up hope,
To understand why you pull that rope'.

I said, 'Mom, don't you think I'd be a dope
If I was to try to push my rope'.
