Ahead of me beckons
The soft greenwood
Of spring,
Birdsong fills the air
And delicate flowers
Cover the lush earth,
A nearby stream seems to laugh
As the water dances
Over worn stones
And around the fragile hooves
Of a new fawn
And its mother
Stopping by to drink
Of its joy,
While, just visible
In the tall grass,
I catch glimpses
Of a fox
And her kits,
Their coats
Flashes of red
Amongst the verdant reeds;
The sky, lightly clouded
And cast in a serene blue,
Holds forth
A healing sun,
And as the earth
Continues to awaken
I, too, am reborn
Within its gentle life.
