Yellow flutes against
Yellow petals,
Daffodils are, to me,
The true harbingers
Of spring.
Delicate, yet hardy,
Blooming year after year,
They stand stubbornly
Against the elements:
Warming sun,
Torrential rain,
An occasional snow,
They withstand them all,
Brightening
A winter weary world
With their unique
And golden beauty.
Once the holidays are past,
And as the weeks go by,
I watch for them,
Knowing they are proof
Of life joyously
Returning
To the land.
