Winter is death's shade.
Somber shades of grey reflect
The absence of life.

it is a somber shade but oh the things that go on in the fog;-)
I couldn't resist this is our season of dense fog, and I couldn't see one thing out my window this morning. Really unbelievable, it's still only barely clear even now. Great ku Karla!

...And then we look outside and see bunnies scampering in the snow and a pair of cardinals in a leafless tree and we remember, that winter is just the time when Mother Nature is taking her nap. Nice Ku, Karla.
Take care,
Sherry

An excellent haiku, dear, but you know...living out here in the
snowy woodlands of Wisconsin...it is anything but 'dead.' My yard
is always full of birdsongs, cat calls, coon whimpers, and the 'snorting' of White-tailed deer. I am never alone, and winter
passes beautifully outside my studio window, as I 'create.'

Sombre indeed, but from shades of grey to hues of blue something is born anew.
