A moving poem Karla.
Although an ocean away I am personally touched as Fats Domino, who was my first rock idol when I was about seven or eight, is missing. But New Orleans is a world famous city and the whole world is with the people there. We are, as usual, less than impressed with America's apology for a President however. I'll bet the media there have not reported that our government offered to send experienced air sea rescue crews from Britain and equipment from our bases in the Caribbean and South America. The White House turned it down.

Still, after all we have done for other countries, I think it is their turn to help now, though who's fault is not the issue...what can be done to alleviate it the next time, I think that is the issue...Ed (as for you Trask, I am glad you saw this coming, no do something about it)
Your shock and horror are palpable here, Karla, and I feel totally at a loss to be able to comprehend what you are all going through - I'm just so grateful that you are all still alive, but my heart goes out to those who have suffered untold loss in both human and material terms. Miracles are what we need to be crying out for, and for God to move the hearts, minds and hands of men to act wisely and with compassion and selfless giving. When God is all we've got, God is all we need... and sometimes He seems to take us to the wire to test us on this issue. Love and prayers always, Kate xx
Yes it is our disaster, and where are all the people of other countries we have supported all these years in every emergency they have faced! I've been sending money to foreign countries all my life even as a child in school. methinks it's time to give it here in my own country, and I hope others will do the same! We are in dire need now and we had better know this economt has taken the biggest hit ever in its experience. This will prove to be more costly than even 9/11! I hope people wake up to the reality of how devasatating this has been to our economy and how long it will take to recover! Great write Karla!

The losses invite us all to think on Justice and help show our work to rebuild what is gone.
