Pray for rain.

Poem Artwork

The heat smashes the birds
to silence; not a leaf stirs
in the trees; the sky, an
endless blue, presses ever
down; the grass, once full
of life, starves; and in the
closer distance, a roar:  not
the reasurring promise of
hope in thunder, but the
consuming pain of flames
drawing near.

Thr environment is thirsty and parched. I feel the heat from distant fires and the creatires are edgy now...the pops of flames encroaching their homes...so very sad when the world is at mother nature's hands instead of mans.

Love,
Susan

Scary situation, excellent expressive write Karla.

Here in OZ, every year we have untold bushfires, and the fireies are always burning off beforehand...
This year could be nasty too, not much rain so far to top up the resivoirs!
We get around 110F, thats 43celcius, it's like dry tinder, up she goes and the Gums crackle.
Hugs to you may the rain pour down

I was caught in a forest fire, and had to go rescue my dog...It's the heat that's the worse, just taking down heat..
Rain is the best defence... Can't put my finger on it, but for the last year your poetry thoughts and style have changed...

Wow this is cutting edge and again though it describes a forest lover's worst fears it could also be a metaphor on how hard life can me. I hope it is he former this time.

Whether tis better to rain, or wither on the vine. Whether thy noblest prayer, or raging wildfire be damned.

Fire is an ever present thing in the summer in Ca. It is so awful to see all that is destroyed. Rain never comes this way in summer, but I never stop prayuing for it, wherever there is fire. Excellent poem Karla!

It seems many of us truly need some blessed rain this seemingly scorching, fire ravaged summer. We should all pray for some.
