Laying on a sheet of pain, he wonders what will happen now. Will he ever have a normal life, now that part of him is missing? Will he ever love? Will he be loved? Only time will tell. Right now all he can do is wonder if the sacrifice made is worth the blood and tears - it is, soldier, it is. Why? Because you stood up for what you thought right, believed in, signed your name, took the oath, donned the uniform of the Air Force/ Army/Coast Guard/Marines/Navy, gave up your life for freedom's sake, defended our shores against all enemies, foreign and domestic - would others be as willing? As the daughter of/ sister of/cousin of/niece of Veterans and a Veteran myself, you have my gratitude and love for what you gave up. You came home - many others didn't. Welcome home, soldier, welcome home. Thank you, I will remember!!
Tell me about it Karla. Even after all that our "idiot leaders" put us through, I too still believe it is worth it. I do however, find it amazing that with all that has happened and is currently happening in this country that George and Dick haven't been impeached (to say nothing about our "representatives in govenment) or that we haven't had another American revolution. Am I wrong in feeling this way, that this country is no longer a true democracy? Our founding fathers have to be turning over in their graves as they used to say. Now they look down from Heaven and cry for what we have lost. Thank you for this great tribute Karla. God bless.

We cheer them off to war, and very sadly, far too often neglect them when they return home. May many follow your wonderful example - and finally welcome them all home - and always remember their sacrifices - and finally give them all the benefits and all the respect that they deserve.
What a wonderful write my friend, very caring and heartfelt! I honestly think that too many don't take the time to consider what our soldiers have given up, the cost they pay, for our freedom, our rights, our safety, our families, with their lives...profound indeed! Well put my friend!
