Night, winter heavy,
presses. Who knew snow -
so light, so airy -
could have such tonnage
on the soul? Weary
of cold, of being
held prisoner by
the season: more than
ready for Spring, for
the release it brings .. . ..
"tonnage"...it comes in many forms, especially in the cold humdrum days of a Winter that won't go away! Think Spring! It's almost reaching the sidewalks, and soon it will be knocking at our door! Answer with the same smile your hope releases here!
Loved it, Karla!

Well said, Karla! I love the part "held prisoner". I can always tell when my hubby has Spring Fever because he starts talking about fishing. It has begun...he's relentless...lol! Great poem~

ahhh.....Karla....this is excellent! Different in style but no less image rich from what I remember of your work...I see I have missed a lot not being in here as often.
Wonderful verse..."tonnage on the soul" is one of the best lines I've read in a poetic moment, Karla...really, you put a lot of thought into these words today...To Be Free is wonderful explanation of the end of a season and the beginning of a new...be well you and Karen Lynn...
It's 41 degrees here and I bought some pansies to put in the ground... they probably won't make it, but at least I had spring for a day...
Love,
Becca~
How powerful the force of nature even in a gentle flake drifting to the ground to have poetry written and people talking so very much. It is a beauty in our lives and a threat to our lives and we love to hate to love it. Hugs for Karla.
be well and happy,
Kathy

Hey, Karla, it's all relative, right? I don't mean aunts and uncles. Lot worse places than the Southwest. At least no tornados right now. :)
Well Karla I can really relate to this as we had an ice storm last night that resulted in my truck getting rear ended this mornign, no one hurt but my poor baby the little yellow truck.
