Neat--I was out looking too--but guess what? I could never get the moon into the picture. Sort of a twilight zone moment, so thanks for the lovely commemoration of a beautiful bit of celestial acrobatics.
The star gazers are the ones who look to the heavens...the dreamers are those who travel to the stars, the poets (like you) are the ones who capture the stars and bring them to earth...
It was maybe two in the morning. We were camped high in the Sierras for a week near seven lakes. A deer licking the side of my tent woke me and then nature called. Once out among the shadows of the old growth trees, the sky took my breath, my heart and soul as I stood there oblivious to the cold and any crick in my neck staring at heaven above. That's the memory our poem brought to the surface. City living with all those lights leaves a lot to be desired.
Too cloudy arond here, but many years at sea and a with a small telescope, I have look at the skies in awe at all it had to offer, night after night, never the same, never repeating, infinite.
You're not alone! Last night the sky was purely clear in SoCal and these celestial bodies moved upon me with great might. It truly is beautiful, like signs in the heavens of something wonderful that is approaching.
