Poem Artwork

Saw the first robin yesterday.
He looked so lost, so out of
place.  His redbreast glowed
hot in a frozen sun:  the only
warmth on a Winter's morn.
He seemed to be asking me,
Where is the Spring?  Had no
answer.  Thought he knew ...

It's a beautiful sight, isn't it? I love watching all the birds outside my window and have little families that live here all the time. I like how you were both looking to the other for the answer of 'where is spring' ... perhaps not far around the corner. Very nice Karla! Hugs, Elizabeth

Even after moving to Florida, I love seeing the first robins of the year as I know the flock is on their way North to where they are eagerly awaited with anticipation of the better days ahead. Hugs, Kathy

Great picture to go with your super fine poem. Look on the brightside, at least you weren't talking to a ground hog.

It's only February. I'm glad that little guy popped up in Texas. In Utah, he'd freeze that little tail off.

Robin sees the light returning--as the old festivals celebrate--on February 2 a/k/a Lammas, Lady Mass, Imbolc, Groundhog Day...

Bet he's freezing his birdie feet, though, in all that ice. ;)

Yes both the robins and the blue jays have been hanging around lately but I think they are looking for the leavings of the fruits and veggies I have been putting out for my three deer that come out to see me every day.

They're cute little birds, aren't they? I once had a family of robins built a nest right outside of my window. I woke up everyday to greet them and watched them. It was fun!!!
