and the chamiso and juniper will look black
and we will fall asleep hearing storm and smelling
juniper and sage-pinon near the rocks....

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved
thunderstorms... I sat on my grand-papa's lap,
watching tornadoes arrive, on his front porch
swing until it was time to be off to the root
cellar....

Ever since that time, I have looked forward to
each and everyone that comes...

Also, that marvelous electricity of mother nature
removes so much negativity from the air and is energizing...
as you state in your last line "energized by the storm."

The strong winds resulted in the strengthening of all plants from their roots to their stalks to their branches. The lightning creates nitrous oxide, combining nitrogen and oxygen in the air. The rains bring the nitrous oxide down in the form of nitric acid, fertilizing the land and creating new life.

Yes, the feel and smell of storms is the feel and smell of the life force itself.
