el nino is rarin' his head again
it's time for the bad weather to begin

rains on the west coast have relieved the drought
while surfers ride the waves the winds have wrought

but at what price? too much rain falls too fast
mudslides block roads, destroy homes--damage vast

in the mountains, a skier's paradise
record snowfalls--the powder will be nice

as the storms move east they intensify
tornadoes funnel down from ugly skies

we'd expect that in spring, not in winter
people's lives are destroyed, shattered, splintered

warm air moves north and the cold air moves south
where they meet, wicked weather cuts a swath

too much rain, not enough, or too much wind
tornadoes, blizzards--what a year it's been

a break from his destruction we will enjoy
from el nino's fury...he's a bad boy!

el nino is making its presence known...one storm
after another is battering the western coast of the
united states, with flooding rains, high winds, and
heavy mountain snows, bringing some relief to
drought stricken areas.

in other places, there is no rain, therefore no end
to the drought is in site.

in the northern tier states, it is forecast to be dry
and warmer than average.

in the southern and western states, it is forecast
to be wetter than average, with average or slightly
cooler than normal temperatures.

el nino winters bring much rain to texas. rain is
expected to develop overnight, and continue into
tuesday.

at the same time, an arctic cold front from canada
is supposed to move into texas. depending on the
timing of these events, we may see snow on tues-
day (christmas eve).

i hope so...i'm still dreamin' of a white christmas,
just like the ones i used to know!
