Christmas--Bah! Who Needs It???

BAH, HUMBUG!!!! Karen says I'm the Grinch, and now you know why...

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
How I HATE that time of the year!
All of the merrymaking and
*CRINGE* all of that holiday CHEER!!

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
What's the reason for it, anyway?
Is it to show how much of a spender you are?
My question:  will you get out of debt, someday??

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
It make my grinch blood positively BOIL!
All of those greedy little boys and girls
WHO ARE ROTTEN TO THEIR CORES, and SPOILED!!

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
If I hear one more Christmas carol, I'll puke!
I hear one of them, they're stuck in my head
YOU CAN'T TELL ME THAT'S NOT PLANNED, A FLUKE!!

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
Decorations going up earlier, I swear!
Fergit about Christmas happening in July,
IT'S HAPPENING ALL YEAR--IT'S A NIGHTMARE!!!!

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
What's the deal with chopping down a beautiful pine?
It was perfectly happy UNTIL YOU KILLED IT
"I'VE GOT THE BIGGEST TREE IN THE CITY--HA HA AND IT'S MINE"

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
It's just an excuse to oink out, to get fat
It's a plot from the diet food industry
"OH MY LORD, HOW DID I GET TO LOOKING LIKE THAT???"

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
The dang toys break within one day of their use
Batteries wear down, tempers flare up
Then the stores won't take it back--no receipt, no excuse *it's a plan*

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
I'd rather be in jail then visit my relatives
Have you ever heard the term "Disfunctional"?
That's my family all over, yep, affirmative!!

CHRISTMAS--BAH!  Who needs it?
All of the stupid lousy presents people send
And answering all of those stupid Christmas cards
HOW MUCH LONGER--WILL CHRISTMAS EVER EVER END???????????????

BAH, HUMMMMMbug!

(C) Karla Dorman, 2003.

*Update:  before you all lynch me, this is FICTION.

It's just that Christmas seems to be all
about who spent/got what/the most, or who
has the biggest/best/most expensive trappings.

I fear we have lost the true  meaning of the
season.

Christmas is getting overcommercialized...and
it's a shame.

Some seem to loose fact of what Christmas is truly about, the infant babe in the manger, the Christ Child, the one who came to this world to die for our sins, there in lies the true meaning of Christmas, not in the commercialsm that society has wrapped us in....
God Bless

Christmas is okay, but I think once every 5 or even 10 years would make it much more interesting and fun...once a year, NO. It is the time when kids nowadays get what they want, use the product and then trash it, never to see it again...I dont go in for the holidays myself and Rufuz, well Rufuz doesnt care either way either, LOL! It's a greaat write , on the money! However we could change it if we all just stopped shopping for christmas. Stay home and forget everything around you and just wish Christ a happy birthday. Which isn't even in December anyway;-)Man has screwed up everything, but let's not take it out on God!Let those who wish to splurge do it, that's their right.I stopped keeping Christmas a long while back, but I never stopped celebrating His birthday!

I for one enjoy watching the little ones open their gifts. Whether I get to open a present or not, tears (many of them) fall as I see the twinkle in the eyes of the children.
We always have story time on Christmas Eve where we re-tell the story of the birth of Baby Jesus. The children of the family can tell it without help themselves, but they get their hot chocolate, their home baked sugar cookies and gather in front of the fireplace, just like it was their first time to hear it. I can't wait for storytime myself! Last year, they actually wanted to hear the story 'before' we opened gifts! That was a special treat for us older folks. Thanks Karla! Lisa

Well it was great till the yanks phuqed it up, by commericalism, humbug indeed, till the true meaning returns, and live our Christ given mass not a phoney TV Christmas, that leaves many with xmas blues instead of his glorious hues, of peace love, etc, only and only then will we love the true Christmas, not the coke a cola coloured one.

Could just see the little green MONSTER in my mind writing this down; delightfully charming and witty write that brilliantly captures the Grinch in all his Grinchly glory! I loved this write; are you SURE you are NOT related to the Grinch?? (You CAN get grinchy at times, but then, i can, too...LOL)

Thanks for sharing such a howlingly funny present of a poem; this is a HOOT! LOL

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Grinch #2..ah, er, I mean, Karen Lynn. :D LOL

Karla...Christmas has gotten too darned commercial....all those big stores making all the money....most people cannot afford to spend...we have always overdone Christmas and loved every bit of it...This is the first year we have changed things...We are buying just one gift for each of us...immediate family...and concentrating on our blessings...my sons cure...and other blessings from God...I am thinking this will be our best Christmas ever....no need to go with the flow....Make your own little happiness...sing carols..go to church..and enjoy your family....that's what its all about....This is a good creative write that will make all of us think deeply about this commercialism that is thrown at us all....thanks for writing it and posting it...Floria
