Happy Winter Solstice

Dog Days of Winter
endless these dog days of
winter
into this muted world of
browns and grey
trudging along a
forest path of plenty
now, cold and barren

Endless these dog days of
wind
rattling the bones of yesterday’s hunters
laying, long, devoured by earth

The gleaming, sharpened ivory,
canines, dulled to ugly
yellow
winter has reclaimed the hunter
the spirit, forever alive
into
the driving wind
the hunter

Impressive imagery. Changes occur, in time, until winter comes. There is a winter for everyone, for everything.

When we choose to walk the path of the Lone Wolf, it is a lonely and weary path to trod. A very sad and insightful write. SC

You've described a Texas winter perfectly: all shades of greys and browns. Well done, Stan!
