Sometimes you speak and I don't know if I'm dreaming it
or if you've molded into nothing more than voices in my head
you part your lips and let the drops of blood free
but I don't know if you were ever more than a dream to me.
My dear Timothy
we're partners in crime, you and I
sharing a grip around the neck of honesty
both strangling any amount of truth to be found
cutting off the sounds of our own screams
trying to press into the throat of each other
only to kill ourselves instead
It can't last long, this silence will strike like violence
and bring this glass house down around our ears.
Just a child
my little baby boy
the both of you
I'd wanted to hold you forever
run away and protect you from the world
from the jackals and politicians
you and I and he
locked away from the ugliness of this life
I'd wanted to take you away
so that I wouldn't have to watch you destroy yourself.
But the silence struck us a blinding blow
forced us to eat our words or forfeit the life we know
and now my world has become something bloody
blood on my hands
blood on my thighs
blood in my eyes
and I don't even think you see me anymore
don't even know if I exist for you at all
I can't remain imprisoned much longer
soon I'll break free from the bindings of your psychosis
from this metal plate of silence over my lips
and the world will know my grief
for a little boy and a little girl
who thought a single babe could change the world.
