Yuma was a part of the earthquake in Baja, CA. It wasn't fun!

A relaxing afternoon that Easter Day
We had gone to church, ate our feast
and watched the children play

Sitting around enjoying  each other
Having a pleasant time.
How could we have known the horror
that literally shook our minds.

We looked in fear at one another
Nothing like this had happened before!
A loud rumbling noise as we looked
at the moving floor.

The house shook and made an awful sound
Pictures falling off the wall and to the ground
The ceiling fan always sturdy and stable
Gave way and fell on the table

The crash was an awful sound.  With fear
in one another’s eyes, and our bodies swaying
An earthquake….here?!
Not knowing what to do, we all began praying.

Just as calm was settling in, the floor moved no more.  When another quake hit, the furniture moved,  andtore off the front door!

Silence at last, the wrath was gone.  We thanked the Lord, and looked at our awful mess.  We turned on the news,we sat in fear when they said, "it’s not over yet expect many more.”

Sorry I missed this. I can relate. The 1994 Northridge earthquake's epicenter was about 15 miles from here. An early morning surfboard ride on our bed and then silence. On the positive side power went out for the entire LA area and I saw all of the stars for the first time in a long time. Patrick

When you can't control what's happening, fear sets in and then panic.

Earthquakes are scary; have been in one ... in OHIO of all places; it was a five-point shaker. I will never forget it as long as I live! Glad you are all okay!

I did not feel a thing here in Phoenix. Although my son did where he was in Phoenix. I am happy no one was hurt. Thank You for sharing, Mary.

I liked the way you reported your story .... and the feeling of what was happening beneath your feet. I also know it was real -- my sister-in-law near Phoenix called to report the same. Hope all is well. Susan
