My feeble attempt at humor, my friends. All fiction..Just wanted to make you all smile a little. This is a different side of my writing...hope you enjoy...

I've been gentle all my life
Always the good girl
Raised way back in the country
Not wise to the ways of the world
Now Daddy had a pick up truck
By the name of Ole Red
Sneaked out one hot July night
After Daddy had gone to bed
I wanted a little excitement
As I headed into town
Bright lights and neon signs
Were flashing all around
I parked Ole Red beside a place
Called Ricks Bar an Grill
Walked in and sit down
Wondering if this could be real
Dancers on the polished floor
Doin' the " wild thing"
I wouldn't do THAT
Without a wedding ring
Ordered some kind of drink
It came with an umbrella
Wasn't long before a guy came over
Kind of a flirty fella'
I knew he had a girlfriend
I'd seen her hangin' on his arm
He sit down right beside me
Started pourin' on the charm
Where I come from a guy like that
Wouldn't live very long
I kicked him in the shin as
They played a cheatin' song
Didn't mean to make him angry
Guess he didn't like what I said
Leave me alone smooth talker
Are you'll wake up dead
I quickly got outta there
And stumbled to my truck
Saw a woman on the corner
Must be down on her luck
I pulled Ole Red over
And asked her for a ride
If I'd worn that much make-up
Think I'd run and hide
She told me to go about my
Own merry way
Well thats gratitude for you
What can I say
Stopped at a little store
For a tank of gas
Saw a man flash a gun at the clerk
I got outta there fast
On the next block a homeless man
Lay on a bench takin' a snooze
Beside him was and empty bottle
Of some kind of booze
Saw that girl on the corner
Ride by with some man
Why she didn't take my offer
I just don't understand
Cops flying by with their
Lights turned on
By then my appeal to city
Life was gone
Ole Red, I've seen enough
Let's get the hell outta here
Go home to our old farm house
Sit down with a cold beer

Linda,

May be fiction, but you capture memories long forgotten for many: well done.

Linda, there's no place like home right?
I got a kick out of this, I know the place.
The beer joint that is. A lot of lost souls
and sadness inside. I have to tell you though that
I've got a dog called Big Red lol he's a real
darlin though ya know. I remember calling our trucks
names referring to gender as in the old gal could run.
But it seems like we had one and called it Ole Blue
but then we had a dog called that too. lol Oh well...

Wow! What a trip you've taken us on my friend, my heart raced as you went from place to place...I could just see you pulling up to the curb and asking the hooker if she needed a ride, this is poem that would surely make a young person stop and think about leaving the comforts of home! I'm forty three and it made me not want to go to town at night! Just joking, loved every bit of it, you've penned an offering that accomplished your task at hand, I'm still smiling and recalling life as a young teen and sneaking out past the appointed time...and getting caught, did it once and never again, wore switch marks for several days....enjoyed this my friend! Glad to see you posting!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

A pretty girl driving a red pickup that's a pictore to sore eyes.
This poem could be turned to a short story, filling all those little blanks, because it is a funny story that should be spinned out from a wonderful poem.
Write on!!! that's an order!
