From The Deep

Poem Artwork

They arose from the sea as the setting sun
Turned the evening sky into fire!
Standing there at the water’s edge
They were everything men desired!

Scantily clad in seaweed green
Flawless bodies perfection!
They were sent from Neptune’s deep
To roam without detection!

Human greed and carelessness
Had poisoned Neptune’s realm!
The time for reckoning had come at last
Now he was at the helm!

In the ocean deep where no one could see
The end was drawing near!
Where the sea once teemed with vibrant life
Now Neptune wept black tears!

So they walked among them freely
Teasing them with their guile!
And led them all, one by one
To their death, sea siren style!

Wow… Revenge of the deep. Thanks for pointing out that we shouldn't mess with old Neptune or the Creature from the Deep Lagoon will come back to haunt us from the 1950s!

As an old sailor from the Maritimes this one speaks to me on many levels. Love the poem although it is a sad message it conveys.

Yikes! But I wouldn't blame old Neptune for unleashing his fury on mankind the way we now pollute and pilfer and destroy his domain.

PS: Can you ask him to unleash his Sea Sirens on the Jersey shore? I owe my old devilish brother in New Jersey a good scare. Thanks.
