Feral perfumes tease my senses…
Trees in their new spring gowns
Wildflowers blooming beside the trail
Vibrant emerald lichens and mosses
Silencing my footsteps
With an earthy aromatic scent
The Robins have returned
And their sweet melodies
Play upon the warm breeze
A chattering squirrel watches me
The woodpecker pauses for a moment
His knocking silenced as I slip by
The forest creatures are aware of me
And yet I am accepted among them
Without a word I have earned their trust
Because they instinctively know
A human soul at peace
Speaks volumes they understand
