With 5 feet of snow in my backyard, and snowbanks so high we can't see down the road when we pull out of our driveway, and a powerful storm about to hit us (March 26th) and dump another couple of feet of snow with hurricane force winds...I've about had enough of old man winter...sigh...AD pals, please post some humorous material...I need a laugh...xo

My soul has grown weary in winter's icy grip...

I dream of cloudless blue skies, and

long for the sweet melodies of birdsongs

carried along on gentle summer breezes

I yearn for the caress of sunshine on my cheek

as I stroll through my wonderful garden, where

pansies smile at me, and daisies dance merrily

in the heat of an endless summer day

My senses tingle as I envision the sweet scent

of the roses clinging to the trellis, where the clematis

blossom in brilliant shades of lilac and pink

and busy bees hungrily seek their sweet nectar

In my mind I hear the songs of summer...

hummingbirds at the feeder, robins nurturing their young,

leaves whispering as they catch the breeze

that carries nature's grace to my soul

The season has changed, but spring is elusive...

copious remnants of winter still linger, and

an icy wind rips across the blanket of snow

and I dream of warm summer days...

Basking now in the arms of summer, it is easy to forget what you describe in your poem here, Anna. Mind you, I miss the snows of my childhood in northern Alberta. Here, on the west coast, the winters seem to have gone away. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Sorry about all that snow!
I have no pansies or daisies for you, but...
I just posted a little nutty stuff
especially for you!

cabin fever I've been there once upon a time in the Castskill Moutains of the northeast last time I was visiting there
I got caught in a 2 feet snow storm, while driving in the area
I saw an unforgetable sight that still in most valued thoughts
a bright red Cardinal flew across the front of my car..... leaving an
impressional momment to remember.
Love & Peace be with you

William

Hang on in there Annabel...it can't be much longer! Spring is just around the corner, and will be all the sweeter for the wait...
Keep your visualising and dreams going until it happens...
And Keep warm in the meantime...in five feet of snow I would practically disappear! Lol
Hugs,
Diana...

Some unseasonably cold weather...seems...the Spring
Equinox has wandered far from the road to your place
Annabel...but your inspiring poem brings it back
and soon...the invincible Spring will spring out
of your dream...back into Nature's fields...with
daffodils...leaping lambs and the spring songs of
chirping birds...for now..."Do what we can, Summer
will have its flies" - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Keep Dreaming; it's truly been a brutal winter for so many of us this year. In my neck of the woods, a hint of Spring is finally in the air, and the wondrous spring bird migrations have now begun, so I am hopeful that I will soon be able to start my spring garden and bid Old Man Winter Adieu.

Beauty in the verses of summer's cherished blossoms to touch.
Garden's to wonder in and loose one's self in their beauty.
A cup of hot tea and warm fuzzies once more. A little dusting
of snow here today. Little league practice cancelled again for
it's under 45f.

It will be 85° tomorrow, but there is little sign of real spring here yet and we don't really get those wondrous four seasons that you do. It is truly amazing how such bad weather can turn into such a pleasant summer day in such a short time.

What can I say to you, my far northern friend, to cheer you and to take you from the cold doldrums of your never ending winter. Would you take cheer to know that we've tulips blooming early this year due to warm days and cold, not by your, no-where near by your cold standards. Approaching seven in the AM this morning and I'm making ready to take my little friend Mushi into the cold, all of fifty-five degree morning for his, and my morning walk. Take comfort, though, in knowing that your splendid, though yearning words of and for a warmer time has touched me to my quick and I so feel for you on this, by your standards, tepid morning as I prepare for our morning pee and poop time... not mine, mind you., but little Mushie's pee and poop time.
Regards from your far south-western friend: Mark
