I was watching a couple of cottontail rabbits nibbling at the the lawn and I got to thinking about grass. And no, I do not smoke grass (or anything else for that matter). But grass skirts are nice, don't you think?

Poem Artwork

Grass

Grass is great
A grassless place is grim
Life there is tenuous at best
You can roll grass
Roll on it
Roll in it
Some wear grass skirts
In grass
On grass
Depending on the length
There is green grass
Golden grass
Blue grass (music to the ears for some)
Sweet grass
Pampas grass
Feather grass (it'll tickle your fancy)
Fescue grass

Rye grass
Maiden grass

Canary grass (tweet tweet)
That’s sweet
And not to forget
Sage grass (some say it makes you wise)
Some smoke grass
Some prefer it in pastry
Or tea
Whichever way you look at it
Grass is great

IN IT'S NATURAL STATE 'GRASS' IS WONDERFUL AND ITS VARIED USES ARE COUNTLESS...FROM A NATURAL BEDDING TO CLOTHING AND CARPETING THAT SOFTENS AND BEAUTIFIES...MANY OF OUR PATHS. BUT JUST TO GET REAL, IT WAS GOOD ROLLED UP AND SMOKED TOO(SMILE)...DAYS OF LONG AGO, THAT I THANK GOD FOR DELIVERANCE FROM, AMEN. Love the skirt, but Hawaii is the last place I'd like to visit. It just doesn't appeal to me, nor does smoking Grass. But the green green grass of him does appeal to me. It's a secure feeling.

Grass is indeed great. We have fake grass in our backyard now in LA. It's like carpet: no mud, no fuss, just clean and easy and always the same length.

When I was taking creative writing workshops, the first thing they taught us is that, in every piece of writing, something must change. I hate to say it, but I don't see much changing here. What is it you want readers to get out of this poem, and what do you want them to take away from it?

Just thoughts to ponder.

And of course, some "smoke" it, political statements aside. But the only thing pesky about grass is that it has to be cut. But it's a whole lot better looking and softer than rocky sand!

LOL a clever write Regis. It's amazing where the mind goes when one unleashes it. I have never given grass much thought...other than the fact that it is a nice place to lie back on when you look up at stars and it feels great beneath bare feet on a dew-soaked morn.

And I guess, judging by the picture, most of the fellas here wouldn't mind a bit of cut grass... :)) LOL Kate xx
