No matter what some say, I really do not think that human beings are meant to be alone.

Poem Artwork

Heaven in Hell

Don’t tell me
To look at the beauty
Around me
I cannot look at it
If I cannot find it
It is too much

Of a mess
Of a hell

Of a world
But
To have you hold me
Say Merry Christmas
Mean all that it stands for
Sweet love
That

Is heaven in hell

Le Paradis en Enfer

Ne me dis pas
De contempler la beauté
Autour de moi
Je ne peux pas la contempler
Si je ne peux la constater
Tout est trop
Trop en désordre
Trop infernal
Dans ce monde
Mais
Lorsque tu me prends dans tes bras
Et que tu me soupires Joyeux Noël
Et tout ce que cela signifie
Ma précieuse
Mon amour
C’est le paradis en enfer

Regis, I love it! This is my favorite of your poems so far. You know hell here and it shows in your writing. Then I find this one, and that brief sweetness extinguishes burning coals under feet. Those temporary moments keep us dancing on this planet, huh.

Big hugs!

"That is heaven in hell"
It sure can be. However, it can sometime be hell in heaven.
The solitude of creation with all its poetic beauty and wonder can be a healing balm from one who plays games with your mind.
As always a brilliant poem.

Yes, love makes it all worth it, I think-but what do I know, lol? I like how your poems are direct and to the point, no holds barred, so that when you do share one, we know it is directly from your heart and soul at that moment.

Wonderfully stated, Regis! Alone is something some of us do, partly out of choice, partly because the world seems to not hold that special soul that we seek, the one that would be seeking that same dream. Enjoyed this work.
Wishing you and yours the very Happiest of New Years,

Balance is the key, Regis...being addicted to love will only break your heart at some point...it's a hell of an emotion that heaven acknowledges to all who have arrived with their hearts in tow, some pulling a heavy load, others going at it solo...risk is what lets us grow...be well.

Regis, it strikes me reading this work, that the great alone of this world with its savage competition is almost more than a single person can bear alone without sinking into terrible despondency, or equally stubborn determination to maintain the aloneness--but you and some of your reviewers are exactly correct that the God-given love and friendship of a mate can enable the beauty to be seen. When I was alone, no place to turn to, love lifted me....Jerry

We are not meant to be alone "all of the time" yet there are times that we need to be. Humans are the only species that haven't figured that out. Each person needs there own space to be alone in when it is needed. Something I have lacked for six months now and I sure do hope that I can regain some sanity having at least my own room in a new place. I have trouble finding peace around me and that is no place for this double leo, born on the first in the year of the dragon to be. Have a great Holiday...LadyJ
