Yes Regis, it takes two...if only we had the ability to read some minds we wouldn't be in ceratin relationships in the first place. But that seems to be the case for far too many. It takes two to build and two for a relationship to last.

I can definitely relate to this. Your words are very profound my friend, they certainly put things in proper perspective. I am lucky to have a wonderful husband,but when it comes to the friend category I always seem to get my heart broken. After trying for many years to find someone in my neighborhood that I can call a best friend I always end up empty handed. Thank you for putting into words what we all at some point experience.

This is a great poem that definitely has things to think about. It is also one that other readers will relate to. I love analogy/metaphor you use in the poem to talk about a relationship. It is refreshing, creative, and shows off originality. There is definitely emotion present in this poem and it is felt through every line.

The only thing missing for me in this poem is the punctuation. I know that poetry doesn't need to be punctuated but I think that in this case it would be better to use punctuate throughout the piece as it helps readers to know when to pause and such and will make the poem read better and perhaps because of that make it even more affective.

So poignant and haunting, Regis, like a solitary echo. This is truly felt and your beautiful, lyrical statement of very sad facts is intensely poetic and melting. So sad when things turn out this way, but guess we have all experienced this in some shape or form - even if ultimately the relationship endures. There's a whole heap of difference between a massive, thriving Giant Redwood and a sickly Prickly Pear, after all... Excellent, Regis! I like the "Two" and "One" bookends, and everything in between. Sometimes the fire burns low, and can only be rekindled with TLC and perseverance. Sometimes it's worthwhile to keep on being the faithful "One" till the other responds.

It only takes one to end a relationship
no matter the reason as he/she doesn't even need a reason...

But to remember it takes 2 to make a realtionship work...
the "Only One" here takes me also to gardening of course
and where it seems I am the "Only One" in my garden
