This Is Just Wrong

in this dream I seem to be going
the wrong way down a one-way
street on a sunless day that cedes
to a moonless night and a starless
sky while all the signs are facing the
other way I don't want to read them
anyway in the darkness I most likely
could not but what you said to me and
what you wrote to me and what you did
to me are all engraved upon my soul and
every word and every letter and every
touch burns and aches and the dream
has turned into a bleak stream of vague
consciousness more dim and void even
than the abysmal depth of emptiness
left by the nightmare of your absence
in this waterless oasis of nothingness

Darling Regis...I need tissues
dreams are so offering to us
and yet so confusing sometimes
in all they repair to solve for us...
I dreampt repeadedly from 1993-1995 about climbing up
a very steep slope or mountain
to get away from people trying to harm me & kill me
when I finally got to the top I thought I would be safe
I was so happy...but then
when I looked in front of me...over the edge of the cliff
there was nothing...no where to go...no where to hide
it looked like the empty sky
no blue either...
then I looked back down and seen where I was
and those people....I dropped to my knees
& cried waking myself up with that
But...I love dreaming
& trying to figure out what they mean...

I am having trouble reading this poem due to the way you structured the lines. If I read pausing at the end of each line then the flow is way off, which throws off the read for me. And without punctuation I don't even know where to pause if I don't pause at the end of each line, which throws off the read for me as well. The content is good though. There is definitely something there. The only thing I'd suggest is punctuating this piece and/or restructuring the lines. You don't have to change any content, just move things around to better flow. For example:

in this dream I seem to be going
the wrong way down a one-way street
on a sunless day that cedes
to a moonless night and a starless sky
while all the signs are facing the other way

Hope I've been of help here.

This is so well-written and expressed as a single stream of consciousness, Regis. The dream/nightmare seems like the mind's response to numbing heart pain when all "you" are aware of are those devastating engraved words. When we feel we are drowning in this way, there is often a sense of going against the flow... perhaps Amber's on to something: the dream signs which you can't begin to look at might be trying to tell you something... This is heart-wrendingly sad and I hope it is just an excellent poetic construct that has us all trying to work through with you. The situation is "wrong" and there is a sense the Voice is also going the "wrong way"... Perhaps a case of two wrongs not making a right? The emotions live in this piece. Bless you, xx

This is not a dream, but a reality for many people who are lost. They don't know what to do in life. The signs are facing the other way meaning that the person is just existing, do not know where to go, or just feeling lost have no where to go.

Words engraved into your soul meaning that you feel you have come so far in life, learning all the lessons, but still you are sitting in the dark, going no where. You wish for some signs or signals from God or someone to give you guidance, but seems like you're the only one there, no one is there to help you.

I think we have been in this situation many times in our lives; but stay tuned, you will find your way soon.
