Poem Artwork

YOU CAME AND SAT UPON MY WALL

UNAFRAID AND VERY SMALL
YOU LOOKED AT ME
I LOOKED AT YOU
IT SEEMED YOU HADN’T A SINGLE CLUE
OF WHY I STOOD WITHIN YOUR SPACE
A PUZZLED EXPRESSION ON MY FACE

YOU BEGAN TO SING A LITTLE SONG
WHICH DIDN’T LAST SO VERY LONG
IT MADE ME SMILE
IT TOUCHED MY HEART
YOUR TUNE A LOVELY WORK OF ART
TOOK MY BREATH AND MADE ME THINK
THEN OFF YOU FLEW IN ONE QUICK WINK

I DIDN’T SEE WHICH WAY YOU WENT
BUT I KNEW THAT YOU WERE HEAVEN SENT
ONE MOMENT IN TIME
SENT JUST TO ME
A DAUNTING TASK FOR ONE SO WEE
TO LIFT ME UP AND CHEER WITHIN
AND ALWAYS MAKE ME REMEMBER WHEN

YOU CAME AND SAT UPON MY WALL . . . . . . . .

A very nice rhyme. Looping back from the last line to the first
tells me you are getting ready to dazzle us again. I'm ready.

So lyrical and wonderful… Especially because I love the bold
and inquisitive nature of wrens.

Your tune a lovely work of art. This little wren so quaint
in song. Beautiful poem.

Always reflect upon the gifts that have been sent your way. If you don't, you will regret it later. The wren acts as a wonderful metaphor for all those beautiful gifts we're given so briefly; that we should treasure and hold close in our memories. -- Jeff Mason

I like it a lot! It's so like God to send a special messenger when we need one. Beyond that, I like the way you express the occasion.

Very, very nice, Jean. The birds and animals and fish of nature can bless everyone's lives if they but take the time to observe them and forget their own worries and troubles for the few minutes it takes to be fascinated by nature's children.
