Dancing at the Blackboard (part 1)
One time in the long ago , this story I’ll lay on you,
It has that fiction feeling, but most , is somewhat true ,
See at one time I was quite a hoofer and danced the night away,
Any girl and every girl , till midnight sometimes stay,
Dance hall joints in Bakersfield were my old stomping ground,
Jitterbug or Buck and Wing, I loved that country sound,
My buddy Nick was a cuddling dancer , all night he could last,
I was beat, went home alone; he always tried for breakfast,
But then one night it happened, still shakes his head in grief,
She was a green dressed Venus, with curves Beyond belief,
Long red hair clear down her back, she really looked the best,
We only saw her from the back , we couldn’t see the rest,
Ol’Nick with debonair approach ,asked the girl to dance,
She jumped and grabbed him around his neck, Ol’Nick near in a trance,
A Flapper from the early twenties, she could be no other,
This gal was plenty old enough to be his Great grand mother ,
Glitzy dress and jewelry, that gal was quite a show,
And talk about her war paint, she had more than Geronimo,
She was definitely not the romance , ol’Nick was lookin for,
He quickly split the scene, and hit the exit door,
So here I am ol’Lefty buddy, what am I to do?
This red and green old flapper queen is lookin now at you,
I couldn’t leave the lady standing, that’s not my kinda thing ,
I bolstered up my courage and thought I’d take a fling,
Boy, I sure called her wrong, she was a dancing queen,
On the oldies and the newbies , she was really keen,
Fox trot , Charleston and the two step, she really was the greatest,
She even did the Hula and drug me through the latest,
When I got through the jitter bug, my legs had turned to mush,
That ol’gal had wiggles, that would make ol’Elvis blush,
I had to call for Time Out, That’s when she made her point,
She really was a Twenties Flapper and Yeah! She owned the joint!
End of part one, stay tuned !

Makes me wish I had taken up that offer to light the cigarette of a 60s something well-preserved chick who sidled up next to me on the barstool in a gold lame outfit that looked very rich. But I was escorting my 60+ cousin on a New Year's Eve outing in Santa Cruz at Someplace Else. The name of the bar. Instead of getting my 20s something body worked up into a love dance, I had to listen to my long faded youth cousin bawl about how she had recently lost her husband at midnight. Instead of kissing and hugging my newfound, bit faded but still beautiful dancer?
You have caused me to confess: in high school the ugliest girl in the whole school invited me to the Sadie Hawkins dance at school. I avoided her and didn't go. Now I feel a bit ashamed for not having given her something that she never got at school.
I know we think alike, because my next story will be Three Dirty Dances. ;-)

The build-up here promises much by way of luscious intrigue to come, but since she owns the joint, you had better watch your step, Tom... Until then, all the best! Strange, you didn't take "doggie" to the dance. Next round, I suppose.
