Precursor

Sandwiched in between
a shower and shave
and the seven come eleven
drive to work, I walk the dog.

A certain swallow of pride
is necessary to tow a ball
of ribboned fluff on
a purple leash
bouncing about like
steroidal Chia Pet.

Abandoning propriety
the little bitch squats
for one and two
then ‘expectantly’ waits
as I bag her exertions.

It’s a Precursor to the day.

My cat at the shop
smells dog during
the welcoming leg rub,
goes to the litter box,
tidies up then
dares me to pet her.

It’s a Precursor to the day.

Fortunately,
I’m not at the bottom
of the proverbial hill.

Well taken care of pets, I must say. They need love and care. My cat cries whenver I am gone too long and leave her alone. She lets me know she missed me. I love this write, of course, I am an animal lover.

To walk a dog around here, you have to shovel snow first, several inches last night...so good to read your words with smiles...

Hello my dear friend...sounds like my Precursor's around here, dog...but he's so huge he walks ME! ...and the cat who has decided she changed her mind, now, she wants the kitty litter box back...and the bunny, and the fish, and the kids...I know I'm on top of the hill, they keep coming back to be fed! :)
Missed ya!
Love and Peace~
