“Spring is when life's alive in everything.”
Christina Rossetti
The Earth is awakening,
Bringing with it
The greening of trees
And grasses,
The first pops of color
From the blooming of
Spring flowers,
And the return of the birds
Whose songs are once again heard
From the woods behind my house.
It is a wondrous time
Of rebirth and optimism,
Of chicks and bunnies
And all those young ones
Now appearing as
The days continue to warm.
The cold of winter
Will soon be well past,
And summer will soon arrive,
But for now
I enjoy the soft air,
The comfortable temperatures,
And the freshness of new life,
As well as
The temptation to frolic
Alongside the lambs, calves,
kids, and foals,
Kicking up my heels
With the simple joy
Of living.
What a gorgeous ode to Spring, Rebecca. I share your feelings. The geese are nesting now, goslings will soon be following and swimming in line behind their mothers. Beautiful, just beautiful pen.
