Autumn in Hollycroft
The leaves are falling,
Brown, gold, yellow, green.
She is come, the Autumn Queen.
Upon the earth her carpet is laid
By the trees, Her maids.
A fine, misty rain
That falls on the world
Softens the image,
As a dream unfurls.
Quiet, this rain,
The breeze makes more sound,
Or the rattle of leaves
As they fall to the ground.
Trees tall and stately
In finest array,
Admit just enough
Of the light of day.
Hollycroft Park,
A palace, allows
All to pay homage
To Autumn, who now
Rules where Summer
Once did reign.
They stay but briefly
And are gone again.
