up a tree in Texas... "Summer came suddenly and I can see / Life can be beautiful even for me"

Poem Artwork

Summer Came Suddenly

up a tree in Texas

While I was shivering it got warmer
Summer came suddenly
Came on strong
Better than the misty-moisty former
Way which things seemed to be
For so long

I got so tired of always feeling cold
And generally hunkered-down and small
Rained-on reined-in isolated and old
At last has come the best season of all

Summer came suddenly and found me lost
Bound up in blankets trying to get warm
I never could afford what winter cost
It only seemed to want to do me harm

But summer showed up in the nick of time
When I was just holding on by the skin
Of my teeth here shivering my chilled rhyme
Getting colder more bitter and more thin

Summer came suddenly and I can see
Life can be beautiful even for me

WEll-Well, that is NEWsss..and good news in fact. Steve- looking forward to change is GOOD! :) WhereEVER! your called, YOu must Go! and I wish you lots of love, and luck in that endeavor you so speak of...Texas is wide- eNjoy! and keep WRiting, I would miss it terribily, if you ever stopped. The tree above, is it an Avacado Tree or Pecan tree, it looks like our Avacado tree in a vase. Ours took 3 yrs to grow and it's only 3 ft tall, planted in a pot on the side of the tv. Take CAre of you Steve, let Summer envelope you with it's beauty and hhheat. Many HuGs,SheeeoXO...

My summer has not come; not yet. For me it is still the cold, icy, heartless days of Winter. But hopefull, inthe not too distant future, summer will come to me, with the sun shining, the breezes calm, and the sky very blue. For winter to last 44 years, is a long time to pay heating costs. Maybe in the not too distant future, my sunset, and overcast days, will be a thing of the past. Maybe.

May the Lord Jesus bless you and yours, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Steven,

Good for us that summer arrived just in time--some powerfully moving lines in this one--the ending shines with promise! Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

And boy, did summer arrive here in Texas--HOT!!!!!
