I Hear Birds
By John Herlihy

I hear birds wherever I go,
Listening for the song they bestow,
In the bush, the trees, the sky,
They tell me things I didn’t know.
They sing to me totally unaware,
They fly in rain as if they don’t care,
Inside the confines of the trees,
In silhouette against the soft light.
At dawn, they announce the day;
At sunset, they warn of the night.
They chirp and sing the day long;
Never has earth heard such song.
Nothing equals the wild joy of birds;
Speechless, I am at a loss for words.

Oh, how I love sitting out back by the trees in my backyard to commune and get "signs" from the trees and birds as I have my morning coffee. Your poem found a very special place in my heart.

Love ya!

YES, AREN'T THEY MARVELOUS? OUR BEAUTIFUL MULTI-COLORED FEATHER FRIENDS USUALLY 'QUIET DOWN' AT NIGHT TO SLUMBER AND REJUVENATE BUT WITH THE FIRST GLOW FROM THE RISING SUN THEY BEGIN AGAIN TO SING THERE WONDERFUL SONGS...FOR US! THE CELESTIAL MELODIES THAT FLOW FROM THEM ARE PURPOSELY MEANT TO REMIND US OF OUR CREATOR AND HIS ENDLESS MAJESTY(AND IT WORKS)...SOMETHING THAT, PLEASURABLY, NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME! THANKS FOR THIS SO DESCRIPTIVE WORK, JOHN, ENJOYED - AS ALWAYS. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

In almost any place on earth, the morning is graded with the sound of birds.

The two most memorable bird sounds for me, were waking up on the edge of the jungle in Antigua, Guatemala to the thunderous sound of, mostly birds, all calling and making arrangements for the day. I'd originally thought that the jungle was filled with animal cries.

And, waking up to the sound of roosters crowing on the 10th floor of a Manila hotel.

Dare I say this is for the birds? As for me, I hear crickets where ever I go, But that's just my tinnitus.

Birds . . . Their songs of the wild.
So diverse, colors spectacular.
What is more pleasing than sitting on the porch,
listening to their concerts!
