Funny Bird
By John Herlihy

Some days I think I look kinda cute,
But I’m never taken for someone astute.
No one ever mistakes me for a brute,
With my head held high, my mouth mute.
I have no true worries; I don’t give a hoot,
I can rustle my feathers but I am not a fruit.
When I look in the mirror, I only see my snoot,
But I quickly look away with feelings acute
Honestly, with my mug, I won’t make any loot
I never wear clothes, always in my birthday suit
One good thing about me, I am never destitute
Nature provides birds like me plenty of fruit
I have few bad habits and I am funny to boot
If you’re interested in me, just give me a toot

Something different for you but quite enjoyable.

Now, on that mirror thing… We once had a Cardinal that continually attacked himself on our sliding glass door window… Others simply mistake their reflection as another bird and smash into my windows quite violently at times… especially doves. It sounds like a baseball bat hitting the window. But they still fly away and land on the fence to shake off the shock. With hollow bones, I'm surprised they don't break more wings, breast bones, or necks like that.
