Pine Barrens in Fall...

The barrens do shed their pride,

Making for through them a beautiful ride,

Waiting again for next summers warmth, the trees cried,

All we humans can do is watch in awe & sigh…

Reds, maroons, yellows and still some greens,

All present to us a mellow fall scene,

Forty thousand acres of trees we try to keep clean,

From the west and the fresh water rivers,

To the east and the salt water marines…

The deer do hide, though sometimes on the side of the road,

Snacking on what’s left of the grass of summers green,

The squirrels do stock up for winter,

All the animals grow their fur quite thick with a sheen…
